A Cold Coast officer reported seeing from his backyard an object in the sky that was, "V-shaped [or triangular] with at least four round lights down each side of the 'V' yet they weren't lit." The officer stated that visibility of the object was due to illumination from ground-based light pollution. Investigators say the object moved with no sound. The report is believed to be related to reports of a similar object seen near Newport, NSW, two days later.

The witness reports he “was leaving work … and saw a large object fairly low in the sky... moving across the sky from a North Easterly direction.” At first he thought it was one of his department’s police helicopters with its spot light pointed directly at him, but then he realized that “it was the colour of our orange street lights. Our police choppers use white spot lights. [At first] The light didn't move, and I could see no "beam" of light that such powerful search lights emit. [Then] It was moving too fast … to be a chopper, but within reach of a jet. …There were no leading lights, wing lights… It was just a big orange ball that was slightly squashed in the middle.” He recorded it for a few seconds on his phone camera, then “It moved so damn fast, right towards the ocean (West). The light seemed to halve in size... A building obstructed it after a second.” The witness compared his UFO photos with photos of nearby planes and concluded that, “the difference is amazing. That's how big this damn thing was…” He noted also that his car central locking jammed for the first time but started working after a half a dozen more attempts.

A QLD Sergeant saw though the sliding doors from the top story of her home, five or six very bright orange lights that manoeuvred constantly and directly over the dam. She raced downstairs to bring it to the attention of her son who also watched them for some time before they vanished. The total duration of the sighting was approximately 5 minutes. The Sergeant states that she was distressed by the sighting and hesitated reporting, especially to her own force, but found a civilian organisation to report to.

‘Marco N.’ was with his wife and several friends, including a police officer and a light aircraft pilot, outside a friend’s house on a clear evening, with his spotting-scope looking for Saturn when he observed “four small objects pass close by a bright star, heading from South to North.” “Evenly spaced, the gaps appeared to be about 2/3 the diameter of the moon, with the four objects travelling in a perfectly straight line, one behind the other.” The informant had two 532nm green lasers and “used a 10mW laser to point out the slowly moving objects. They were the same magnitude of brightness as a dim star and did not flash or emit any further light.”
The informant then took out a second and much stronger laser, 110mW-150mW with a claimed 55-60mile range and capable of burning rubber and dark materials at close range, and he directed it at the lead object and tracked the object. After 2 seconds the two objects at the rear immediately decreased speed and fell back. After about 4 seconds they sped up and fell back into formation. The line of lights then changed course and took up an Easterly course in a gradual arc. He then turned on the laser again and directed it at the second last object which appeared to become dimmer before vanishing entirely. The line of lights soon became faint and vanished near the horizon.

A man was out walking when he observed a large black, cigar-shaped object in the sky. He was near the Riverview Police Station at the time of the sighting so when a police car pulled up at the station he asked the policemen what it was he might be looking at. They also observed the object but answered that they didn't know. They radioed other police cars to ask if anyone else knew what it was but that was all he found out.

Two friends saw two lights dancing erratically over the hills to the NE, moving extremely fast and crossing from one ridge to another ridge in one second, stopping suddenly and spinning on the spot. It seemed the lights would collide, but then they repelled each other. A strange light beam appeared that seemed like the opposite of a spotlight with the light beam appearing to shine upward with it wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. Jenny’s many years of experience in the RAAF could not help to explain the objects' extreme manoeuvres. The objects were observed for 50 minutes and then they shot up into the atmosphere, did a 350-turn and then went spinning in the opposite direction heading towards Redcliffe. A local policeman also observed the object but couldn’t explain the lights.

"Mildura divisional van crew members Kate and Greg were patrolling Apex Park when their jaws dropped at the sight of a very brightly lit UFO hovering over the river," A police spokesperson disclosed. “It appeared the UFO spotted them at the same time as it shot off in the direction of Gol Gol. They attempted to give chase, but it had gone in the blink of an eye.” At around 5:00am they had radioed in “We've just seen a UFO”. One of the officers had a similar sighting in the same area several months earlier.

While there were reports on radio 5AD of “angel’s hair”, believed to be spiders web, floating in the sky, Mr Kym Koch, an aircraft pilot, reported seeing an object low on the horizon while flying between Adelaide and Kingscote. At 4000 feet he sighted a very bright, round orange object about 20 degrees elevation. Then he was contacted by Adelaide approach radar who told him they had received a report from a Kangaroo Island police officer and asked Koch if he had seen anything. Koch says they told him they had a radar sighting. Koch watched it for 15 minutes. When he landed he spoke to Constable Schindler who had reported the light to Adelaide. Schindler reported having seen it for 9 minutes as it travelled westwards.

Organiser of the ACFOS UFO and Metaphysical Conference 2005, Kevin Robb, told how, while living at Lonsdale, some time after observing a silent cigar-shaped object in the sky, he saw a red and green flickering light over his house which jumped across the sky and back in half a second. This object then started doing laps around his house and so he called the police. The police attended his home and also observed the unusual object.

On Monday the 25th at Alice Springs, crowds gawked as "four intense orange fireball lights" were seen flying over the city "before heading in a westerly direction." On the following night of Tuesday 26th, the Alice Springs police videoed lights flying in formation across the sky that were sighted by hundreds. Later an orange-fireball UFO was also spotted hovering near the Joint Defence Facility at Pine Gap.
On the following evening of the 27th, two police cruisers were dispatched on reports of "bright objects bobbing up and down" in the sky. One cruiser "came across a plastic bag by the side of the road all ready and prepared to send off into the sky." The second cruiser came across a car acting suspiciously, in which were two Americans. After being questioned, having their car searched, and upon balloon-making equipment being found, they were asked to accompany the police back to the station. When ID was demanded, the two Americans produced ID cards linking them to the Dept. of Joint Facilities at Pine Gap.
On the morning of November 29, a local resident phoned the JDF and asked about the "orange fireballs." He was told not to worry and that these were "just weather balloons."

On the Wednesday night of May 22, at about 9 p.m., homeowners in Gladstone, QLD, phoned the police to report unusual starry lights in the sky. Answering the call were two officers, Senior Constable Andrew Luhrs and his partner. At first, Luhrs feared the lights were flares from a ship in distress out in the Spencer Gulf. But when the cops arrived, they saw "a strange star-sized light" on the western horizon. "The reports were of a star-shaped light above the horizon which seemed to change colour to red, to white and then to blue," Luhrs said. "The light would throb with an increased intensity prior to each change of colour and hover in the sky for some time and then dart and cover large distances, doing a number of right-angled turns at high speed. We observed the same lights as these people saw and confirmed their suspicions."
In Brisbane, an Air Services Australia spokeswoman said one of their ASA helicopters was searching the ocean near Gladstone between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. that night, after an aircraft in that area reported picking up faint noises on their emergency frequencies just after 6 p.m. "But there was no aircraft reported missing," the spokeswoman said, "And the search didn't turn up anything. It appears there was some kind of static on the signal. It's not something that I've dealt with before - it's unusual." Also that night, several friends spotted a UFO with "a flashing red, white and blue light" near the Air Force base at nearby Amberley. In nearby Ipswich, at around 11 p.m., two men captured a UFO on video. Reports also appeared in the media from that night of UFOs all over the nation.

"Callers were genuinely frightened"
- Sergeant Bob Wenning of the Gosford Police.
NSW
|
On Saturday evening December 30 1995, all phones rang hot at Gosford Police Station as motorists called on their mobile phones to report a large craft hovering above Mooney-Mooney Bridge. Later, dozens of calls flooded in from distressed locals at home. Station Sergeant Bob Wenning states, “People were woken by an intense humming noise. They were genuinely frightened when they saw a huge cylindrical object hovering over the water. It had a polished, ball-like bottom, and as it hovered over the lake, its lights shone down into the water, apparently turning it in to steam”. Callers also reported a brilliant light which “turned night into day”, shining through their bedroom windows.
Patrol cars were sent out to investigate, but whenever police officers came to within 50 meters of it, or car headlights got close, the craft would turn off its own lights and shoot up skywards, out of sight. One police officer reported that it flew away “as if you had a torch beam and whipped it around.” Seasonal parties, previously well behaved, suddenly erupted into antisocial behaviour. Residents reported their animals cowered and hid, and many dogs howled for no apparent reason. Car patrols were dispatched from one spot to another as the object moved back and forth over the area. All callers gave the same account of a saucer-shaped craft, 20 to 30 meters across, surrounded by bright white light, and with intense shafts of light that penetrated the foaming water below, or when away from the water, once the shafts of white light were off, underneath was a red glow or flashing red-orange lights.
The event largely died out around dawn at 5am, after Police units had been dispatched on over 35 calls, one officer relating that the evening reminded him of a night of “Moon Madness”, that phenomenon known to police whereby civil unrest increases during the full moon.

1994 (?) [NSW] Officers Watch UFO Hovering

The informant states that the Weather Conditions were fine and clear, and the object in question was round. The informant also states, "I was driving from Condobolin to the town of Lake Cargelligo at night, a distance of about 104km. I was the driver of a police car (Highway Patrol) with my partner in the passenger seat. This stretch is notorious for Kangaroos and wild pigs on the road at night, so I was driving under the speed limit of 100 kph. After traveling for about 10kms from Condobolin I noticed a light to my right apparently in a paddock. What attracted me to it was the brightness, and the fact it was alternating through all colors of the spectrum. I pointed it out to my partner and we slowed and checked, certain it was a farm house light. It was then that we became aware that it was not in the paddock, but hovering above it. We stopped, killed the vehicle lights, and watched it for a few minutes mystified. We debated what it was, but could offer no rational explanation and I think we convinced ourselves that it 'must' be a tractor in a paddock working the land and the lights must be resulting from being filtered through dust."
