At Exeter in September 1965, at the lonely hour of 2am, young Navy recruit Norman Muscarello is walking down a quiet country highway when suddenly a huge object looms above him. He throws himself to the ground to avoid being hit, then huddles himself, pale and terrified, against a cold stone wall. Officers Eugene Bertrand, David Hunt, and superviser Reginald Toland are on duty when the teenager comes to the police station. Earlier in the night, Bertrand and Toland had already heard from a woman found parked outside Exeter who related that a huge flying object had chased her, but things were now escalating. Read as the shaken Navy recruit leads Bertrand back to the site and both watch as a huge luminous object rises from behind the evergreens, the craft coming so close to Bertrand that he drops to the ground and draws his service weapon, but it doesn't fire. Hunt arrives shortly after to watch the strange craft do things that no plane can do. So begin UFO events for the local police at Exeter - the now famous "Incident at Exeter".
