The original press release to the Bayside Star Newspaper, 17 December 2008, now copyrighted, is as follows. The final release follows, entitled "Carseldine man launches UFO website," which appeared with several errors. In addition to several typos, my IT degree was a Bachelor's Degree, not post-graduate. Also, in reality, research is expected take a few more years.

CIVILIAN POLICE-WORKER EXPOSES REAL X-FILES

Civilian police-worker Richard Jones, working in crime prevention in North Brisbane, has compiled an unprecedented database of UFO sightings by police officers from around the country, which he estimates to be the tip of the iceberg. If that wasn’t enough, he’s also compiled a collection of police UFO investigation cases exposing that the police have been quietly investigating UFOs. Mr Jones has gone public with these real police X-files, many found in RAAF files and the National Archives, and published them on a new website, truly making him the real Fox Mulder.

“With a background in computers, an interest in the paranormal, and a job with the police, the project seemed almost inevitable,” says Jones. “Work on the project began in early 2007 when I suspected that if there were UFOs, police officers might have a higher chance of seeing them on the job.”

“Research and investigation was difficult at first, even drawing ridicule from colleagues,” says Jones. “However when the cases began to mount, other officers began to come forward with their stories, some doing a 180 on their attitude. As word spread of my work, the grapevine brought forward even more cases as officers unsure of where to turn had found a place to come clean with their disturbing UFO accounts. Not only were officers seeing UFOs,” says Mr Jones, “many cases on public record show that the police have been investigating them, often at the behest of public concern, and for over 50 years.”

Are UFOs real then? “The phenomenon certainly is,” states Jones, “But whether UFOs are piloted by aliens from outer-space is another question.” Jones believes the question of whether we are alone remains one of the greatest questions facing humanity today, having serious implications for world security and peace.

To assist with research, Mr Jones urges all officers to come forward with any UFO information via his website PoliceUFO.com. The testimony of Police Officers in UFO research is considered very weighty, comparable to that of astronauts, and scientists. Mr Jones assures officers that witness particulars will not be made public without expressed permission. Mr Jones hopes to publish much of his research in a book sometime in the next year.
