Night Seige - The Hudson Valley Sightings
...
J. Allen Hynek, Philip J. Imbrogno, Bob Pratt. Llewellyn Publications, 2 Expanded edition, 1998.

On New Year's Eve 1982, one of the most puzzling UFO flaps in recent history errupted over the Hudson Valley north of New York City. Reported by over 7,000 sighting witnesses, a massive boomerang-shaped craft glided silently over New York and Connecticut. Police officers were both among the witnesses and had to deal with the deluge of phonecalls from concerned citizens. The efforts of Hynek, Imbrogno, and Pratt combine to bring this expose and analysis of this mystifying occurance. In this updated edition, reports are extended to 1995, and additional graphical analysis of the UFO's appearance and the chronology of the sightings are provided.

Also known as the "Westchester Boomerang", the UFO was offically reported by hundreds of people in New York State and Connecticut and was described by most witnesses as an immense V-shaped series of flashing lights connected by some dark structure. Detailed are the reported close encounters of some 900 people. Many witnesses consistently noted the common feeling that "the object or whatever intelligence that was behind it was trying to communicate with them in some way." Despite stories in the media that the object was a misidentified formation of ultralight aircraft, after two years of analysis, the conclusion is that there is "no conventional explanation for the Hudson Valley UFO."

Includes photos, drawings and sequential frames from a videotape of the lights. A thorough and professional investigation into an astounding event.
